1. Adrian DAWES. Born in Newthorpe, Nottinghamshire, England.1 Adrian died in Newthorpe, Nottinghamshire, England.1 Religion: Church of England/Quaker.
Current research shows that our Dawes family originates from the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire areas of England known as the "Midlands." Adrian Dawes of Newthorpe in Nottinghamshire is the earliest ancestor of certainty. Newthorpe is a small residential area on the eastern outskirts of Eastwood, Nottinghamshire. Adrian Dawes married Hannah and had at least four sons: Edward, Francis, Abraham, and Joseph. All were born in England and Joseph died in England in 1698.
Sometime in the late 1670s, the Dawes' family became members of the Quaker religious sect. Francis and Abraham were baptised at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Greasley. The Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) was founded by George Fox in Derbyshire in 1647 and the Daweses may have become some of the first converts. As the Quakers do not observe the sacraments and do not baptize, the family was still a part of the Church of England when the children were baptised in 1672 and 1675.
Adrian married Hannah (DAWES)1.
They had the following children:
