I maintain this site for fun, and as a tribute to my father, who would have loved it. I also do Web site design and hosting, for folks and causes or businesses I like, and to help pay expenses. If you need a Web presence, see www.dawesbiz.net. And... IF you ever visit New Orleans, do give me call, I'm also a professional tour guide. I'll give you a great walking tour of the French Quarter or other sites in exchange for a nice meal, perhaps, or a quickie of Jackson Square in exchange for Beignets and Coffee at the Cafe du Monde...

You're a descendant of Adrian but you're not in the genealogy? Alas, because of privacy issues, we post only "decedents" -- that is, DEAD descendants here. You will no doubt qualify in the future, be sure to let us know when! Alas, I have almost no interest in genealogy, except the stories. But I am very sensitive to those who do, since my father Richard Marion Dawes invested much of his life in what he called "Dawes Delving". Other relatives, and non-related Dawes families, cherish the research he did. These pages are posted in HIS honor. The design is mostly mine, and the content (except for this one page) is all Dan Kangley's.

Much of this effort was the work of Richard Marion Dawes (1905-1992), our family genealogist, who was also the founder of the John W. Dawes Family Association. I removed the GEDCOM file at Dan Kangley's request. Dan says his more recent versions have a lot of corrections and additions. Do send email to Dan if you'd like a copy of the latest version.

I switched Site Search Engines to one provided by www.Master.com from beseen.com. After my move to New Orleans, I expect to change to their discussion group: see a pilot mode of it at this new Dawes Message Board.
