The Genealogy of
Adrian Dawes of Nottinghamshire

Looking for Dawes, Daws, or Dawe relatives? If you're one of the Adrian Dawes descendents, you have struck GOLD. If you're from any other Dawes family, please use this Guest Book and/or our Dawes Delving Mailing List  or Dawes Message Board to post your questions and information about your family, or anything interesting about ANY Dawes, Daws, or Dawe.

I don't update this page or site very often. If you wish to be notified of changes, use the private, automated service offered by www.changedetection.com ... and while you're there, tell it to mind other pages that are important to you, it's a great service! HINT: you can even paste in the URL's of important Google searches, for instance .....

Monitor this page for changes!

I also do Web site design and hosting, for folks and causes or businesses I like, and to help pay expenses. If you need a Web presence, see www.dawesbiz.net. And... IF you ever visit New Orleans, do give me call, I'm also a professional tour guide. I'll give you a great walking tour of the French Quarter or other sites in exchange for a nice meal, perhaps, or a quickie of Jackson Square in exchange for Beignets and Coffee at the Cafe du Monde...

Click for larger picture, suitable for framing. You're a descendant of Adrian but you're not in the genealogy? Alas, because of privacy issues, we post only "decedents" -- that is, DEAD descendants here. You will no doubt qualify in the future, be sure to let us know when! Seriously, do let our Content Master, Dan Kangley kangley1@XXXsio.midco.net (remove the anti-spam "XXX") know when your ancestors have qualified.

Incidentally, Dan has a much more up-to-date listing than you will find on these pages. I only need some spare time to do an update. If you want a copy of his Gedcom files, do write him at the address below.

Alas, I have almost no interest in genealogy, except the stories. But I am very sensitive to those who do, since my father Richard Marion Dawes invested much of his life in what he called "Dawes Delving". Other relatives, and non-related Dawes families, cherish the research he did. These pages are posted in HIS honor. The design is mostly mine, and the content (except for this one page) is all Dan Kangley's.

See John W. Dawes story.
John Wilkinson Dawes, 1783-1864, and his wife, Elizabeth Patterson, 1787-1866. They had 12 children. My father Richard considered him the patriarch of our branch.

Dawes Message Board
This feature allows you to post a message and invite comments. It won't allow you to mail to each subscriber, but you can view what others have written easily, and if you register, reply on-line. ONE distinct advantage, you email address will NOT be exposed unless you wish to declare it, thus avoiding adding to you SPAM lists.

I could not bear to lose these old Archives from ListBot days, so I made a page for each of the old contributions:

DAWES STORIES AND LORE

INTRODUCTION

his Dawes Family Register Report contains information about our family that has been collected over many years of research. Much of this effort was the work of Richard Marion Dawes (1905-1992), our family genealogist, who was also the founder of the John W. Dawes Family Association. Now our Content Master, Dan Kangley, has updated and added to that beginning, and we jointly make it available to you on the Web.

The official publication of the Association, The J. W. Dawes Family Newsletter, is published three times per year and has been in existence since 1968. Subscriptions to the newsletter ($12/year) may be obtained from:

Many, if not most folks named Dawes, may have heard from their older relatives that they are related to the really famous and distinguished Dawes notables, like the William Who Rode With Paul Revere. My own father Richard heard this when he was a child, and took pride in proving otherwise. If you think you're related to the Rider or former Vice President Charles G., Duane and Janice would like to hear from you. Write them at:

WHAT'S NEW

June 10, 2003

It's the stories I really enjoy. Here are two distinguished family members, for starters:

February 15, 2002

I removed the GEDCOM file at Dan Kangley's request. Dan says his more recent versions have a lot of corrections and additions. Do send email to Dan if you'd like a copy of the latest version.

I switched Site Search Engines to one provided by www.Master.com from beseen.com. After my move to New Orleans, I expect to change to their discussion group: see a pilot mode of it at this new Dawes Message Board.

October 2, 1999

  • Completely updated Dan Kangley's genealogy pages! Includes text, sources.

  • Added Dawes Delving discussion list, with open Archives for public viewing, registration for  postings by members.
